MARINE PARADE RESIDENCE, COTTESLOE
Given the particular dynamic beauty of the Indian Ocean address the aim was to create a low maintenance home, to respect the climatic condition and enjoy the process of creation. The width and area of the lot called for a rational, straightforward organisation. Split pavilions and a central courtyard are flanked by the service module (housing circulation and wet areas) running longitudinally and allowing uninterrupted views through the core of the building. Orthogonal forms are a response in contrast to the fluidity of the natural landscape. A carved bio-morphic opening provides a telescopic view to the north and an exclamation mark to the passing traffic - where abstracted forms of the crescent moon ever change with the passage of the sun.
