MOUNT STREET DEVELOPMENT
The design brief includes two penthouse apartments on a compact site in one of Perth's most exclusive residential streets. Being 100m from the western end of St Georges Tce, uninterrupted views extend to the CBD, Swan River and Kings Park. The cloaked roof form cascades to contain the internal spaces and shield the eastern sun; a response in contrast to orthogonal local constructions. The result is a mixed-use project incorporating two luxury apartments sharing the views with flexibility to adapt to future commercial use where market forces direct change. The interiors are more luxurious by comparison to their counterparts with a timeless simple approach to the design and finishes providing a neutral canvas for individual expression, pleasure and relaxation. This project started as a private residence for the client and with a change in client priorities became an outright development. Due to lack of other quality developments in Mount Street and reduced quality of local constructions the project was shelved in 2002.
